Abrupt Death 40:56

about

This music was created using tape loops of all sorts of instruments, then the tape was played over sandpaper reels that slowly disintegrated the particles off of the tape.
There was other destruction methods preformed throughout the recordings as well, such as, fire, hot knives, magnets, and razors.

Track one degraded until it was tiny magnetic particles, and then eventually the tape snapped at the end, it was a gradual journey, with a quick end. This to me represents a life that had been lived till the last moment. It wasn't taken out of no where, this was a slow process and was a peaceful leaving from this place.

Track two degraded different from the other and was warping throughout the recording, it also had snapped at the end, but this one was more abrupt, like a beautiful life taken unexpectedly. This to me also represents how at any moment we can leave this place, and that we should not take anything for granted, and to live in the now, because its all we are guaranteed.

This album reflects a very difficult time for me, and for others. Its about the concept of death, and specifically the death of a close friend. When they pass, you remember their whole life with you, every moment you spent with them, and every moment you wish you could have. It also reflects the truth, that life is so fragile, and how it slowly slips away from us, and before we know it, we’re gone as well. But it also shows that it isn't always like that, and that people close to us can be taken at any moment, unexpectedly. This isn’t meant to make anyone sad, or think that this music is necessarily sad, this is just the truth of the album that I am giving you here, and the feelings I have associated with this music. I hope you can enjoy and take whatever you can from listening to this, and thank you to whoever listens to this whole album with open ears.

Dedicated to my best friend Kincade who passed away earlier this year.
